Week 10 Reflection

Week of Oct. 26-Oct. 30

Throughout this week, Geometry students continued to learn about Geometric Proofs. They reviewed and are preparing for a test that will be given on Monday and Tuesday. I have had the decision to make about whether or not to continue my AR throughout two more units of study. I am worried about not having time to complete both units because of the "short" while we have left at our PDS. I have decided to continue with my AR to have more conclusive results based on two tests, instead of just one.

In Statistics, students continued their M & M lab by calculating the center of the data based on all students' results. These students also reviewed this week and were given a tests on Friday.

In Algebra I, students were studying inequalities and absolute values. After reviewing homework, I prepared a Jeopardy game for students to review the chapter's concepts. Students seemed to enjoy having a game to play, but their test results were disappointing. Many of the students did not seem to have the prerequsite skills of solving equations. If students do not know how to properly solve an equation, it will be difficult for them to remember and apply rules about inequalities and absolute values. Many mistakes were made on "simple" math errors, like sign errors, or miscalculations. I am struggling with how to get these students to participate in class and become insterested in the material. I am going to work hard on the next unit to come up with interseting activities to involve the class more.
